Job summary

Forge Recruitment is partnering with a well-established boutique law firm in Midtown Toronto to recruit an Associate Lawyer for its growing Litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to build their litigation practice while working alongside experienced professionals in a collegial setting.

Key responsibilities include managing a litigation caseload focused on creditors' rights, debt recovery and judgment enforcement; drafting pleadings and attending court;

Qualifications

• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• 2–3+ years of litigation experience in Ontario.
• Experience in creditors' rights, debt recovery, enforcement proceedings, or commercial litigation is considered a strong asset.
• Strong advocacy, drafting, and legal research skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
• An interest in business development and building long-term client relationships.
• Salary: $75,000–$110,000, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload with a primary focus on creditors' rights, debt recovery, and judgment enforcement matters.
• Represent financial institutions, leasing companies, and other commercial clients in recovery and enforcement proceedings.
• Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, settlement materials, and other litigation documents.
• Attend court appearances, motions, mediations, examinations, and other litigation proceedings as required.
• Provide strategic legal advice and practical solutions to clients throughout the litigation process.
• Maintain regular communication with clients and opposing counsel.
• Effectively manage files from inception through resolution while ensuring compliance with court deadlines.
• Collaborate with colleagues on complex matters while managing files independently.
• Participate in networking and business development initiatives to support the continued growth of the practice.
