Job summary

Bevertec in Toronto, Canada is seeking an experienced Linux desktop engineer to support developer workstations and high-performance endpoints. The role emphasizes hands-on Ubuntu administration and enterprise-grade patch management using HCL BigFix.

The ideal candidate will deploy and maintain security and endpoint tooling such as Zscaler, CrowdStrike, and ThreatLocker, while providing strong Docker-based containerization, virtualization, GPU support, and developer-toolchain assistance.

Qualifications

• Enterprise Linux desktop engineering experience with hands-on Ubuntu administration.
• Direct experience supporting Linux developer workstations and high-performance endpoint hardware.
• Hands-on experience with HCL BigFix administration, software packaging, automated deployment, and patch management.
• Experience deploying or supporting Zscaler, CrowdStrike, and ThreatLocker in managed endpoint environments.
• Strong Docker, containerization, virtualization, GPU, and developer-toolchain support experience.
• Automation and scripting experience using Bash and Python.
• Advanced networking knowledge including DNS, DHCP, VPN, proxy, routing, firewall and endpoint connectivity issues.

Job description

6-12 months initially. Potential for Contract-to-Hire

Ideal Candidate Rate: CAD 85-95/Hr (Depending on the experience)

Must Have:

• Demonstrated enterprise Linux desktop engineering experience, with strong hands-on Ubuntu administration.
• Direct experience supporting Linux developer workstations and high-performance endpoint hardware.
• Hands-on experience with HCL BigFix administration, software packaging, automated deployment, and patch management.
• Experience deploying or supporting Zscaler, CrowdStrike, and ThreatLocker in managed endpoint environments.
• Strong Docker, containerization, virtualization, GPU, and developer-toolchain support experience.
• Automation and scripting experience using Bash and Python.
• Advanced networking knowledge, including troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, VPN, proxy, routing, firewall, and endpoint-connectivity issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting AI or machine-learning development environments and associated runtimes.
• Familiarity with Dell, HP, and Lenovo workstation platforms, with HP hardware familiarity, is considered an advantage.
• Experience supporting globally distributed engineering teams in a large enterprise environment.
• Exposure to DevOps platforms, CI/CD processes, and developer-productivity tooling.
