Hatch is seeking a dynamic Linear Conveyance Engineering Student for the Fall 2025 work term. Reporting to the Infrastructure, Water group, you will support offices globally working from our Oakville office location.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Engineering & Project Support : Assist in the design and analysis of civil engineering linear conveyance projects involving watermains, sewers and water conveyance tunnels. Support engineering services and project delivery involving initial studies, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction phases.
  • Technical Tasks : Support hydraulic and pipeline design for watermains and sewers. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Perform site inspections and assessments. Prepare technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Applying Engineering & CAD Software : Utilize civil engineering software for modeling and analysis. Assist in the preparation of technical drawings and documentation using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Field Work & Data Collection : Participate in occasional site visits to monitor project progress, audit Contract requirements, and collect photographic information on work progress.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration : Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success. Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Professional Development : Participate in training sessions and professional development activities. Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with industry standards and technologies.
  • Safety & Compliance : Comply with safety regulations and standards. Promote a culture of safety within the office and on project sites. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure safety measures are integrated into project plans. Audit construction activities and identify potential safety hazards.
  • Quality Assurance & Control : Help ensure that designs meet quality standards and client requirements. Participate in quality control reviews and revisions.

You bring to the role:

  • Currently a2nd, 3rd or 4th year student enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University.
  • Strong CAD skills, and experience with AutoCAD/MicroStation.
  • Positive team attitude and approach, results oriented and ability to work independently.
  • Passion for learning, challenges and your field of study.
  • Interested in innovation, sustainability, safety and quality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
