The Explorer Hotel is seeking a passionate and skilled Line Cook to join our energetic culinary team in Yellowknife, NT. Reporting to the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef, this role offers a unique opportunity to showcase your culinary talents in a professional and fast-paced kitchen environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and execute a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items to our brand’s standards, ensuring quality, consistency, and creativity in every dish
- Apply a diverse range of international cooking techniques, including grilling, roasting, sautéing, and braising, with a particular emphasis on French, Italian, Asian, and Canadian-inspired cuisines
- Participate in themed menus and seasonal features that celebrate global flavors and ingredients, while ensuring dishes are beautifully presented and aligned with our brand’s identity
- Assist with prep work, inventory control, portioning, and station setup in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Communicate effectively with the team during service to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and guest satisfaction
- Support an inclusive and learning-focused kitchen culture by embracing opportunities to develop new skills and support colleagues
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ year of experience in a professional kitchen (hotel or high-volume restaurant setting an asset)
- An understanding of classic and modern global cooking techniques
- A passion for quality, teamwork, and continuous growth
- Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a “can-do” attitude
