What you will do:

The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food in a timely, sanitary, and consistent manner. The Cook must work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, follow safety procedures, and work well as part of a team. The role requires a high tolerance for heat and the ability to quickly identify and act on job duties.

Job Duties:
  • Prepare food items in the pantry, fry, and other kitchen stations.
  • Set up stations according to guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization ('clean as you go').
  • Possess good knife skills.
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards.
  • Restock items as needed.
  • Maintain safety and sanitation standards.
  • Properly use and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning and organization of kitchen and storage areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Prepare dishes for customers with allergies or intolerances.
  • Ensure food safety and quality through sanitary practices.
  • Work efficiently and at a consistent pace.
  • Prepare the correct quantities of food.
  • Utilize kitchen equipment effectively.
  • Stay productive and prepare for future needs.
  • Be flexible and volunteer for shifts as needed.
  • Report accidents and incidents properly.
  • Follow safety regulations including infection control and hazardous materials handling.
  • Serve food at proper portions and temperatures.
  • Report policy infractions.
  • Arrive on time.
  • Perform other related duties.
  • Open and close the station as required.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate eagerness to learn.
  • Follow cleaning schedules.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Food services management diploma preferred.
  • At least 1 year of cooking experience.
  • Knowledge of food trends, sanitation, and presentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Flexible and able to work in a diverse environment.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and email.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good time management and multitasking skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Valid provincial alcohol handling certificate.
Work Conditions:
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Exposure to cold, heat, and water.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • High temperatures in the kitchen.
  • Manual dexterity for knives and appliances.
  • Extended hours as needed.
