Job summary

Sony Pictures Imageworks Vancouver is seeking a Lighting Artist to illuminate characters and environments across shots, ensuring art direction and continuity. Proficiency with Katana, Maya, Linux/UNIX, and scripting is expected; Nuke compositing experience is preferred.

A 2-year diploma or 1-year certificate is favored, with 2–3 years of relevant experience considered. You must provide a demo reel highlighting your artistry and technical skills, and collaborate with supervisors to meet

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Katana, Maya, Linux, UNIX scripting ability.
• Arnold shading, volume rendering and raytracing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Nuke or other compositing software is preferred.
• Most desired 2 year diploma or 1 year certificate; 2-3 years of relevant experience may be accepted.

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements lighting of characters and environments for shots, matching art direction.
• Ensures lighting fits continuity of the sequence and meets productivity targets.
• Interacts with supervisors and peers to exchange information relevant to the show.
• Develops lighting solutions and techniques that align with art/technical direction.
