Job summary

ICON Creative Studio in Vancouver is seeking a Junior Lighting / Compositing Artist to join our Lighting, Rendering & Compositing team. You will contribute to lighting, rendering, and compositing shots under guidance from leads in a fast-paced production environment.

The role focuses on building skills in lighting and compositing, collaborating with directors and supervisors to maintain visual direction, and delivering quality results within project timelines.

Qualifications

  • Basic experience with Maya and Arnold.
  • Familiarity with Nuke or other compositing software is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to take feedback.
  • A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of lighting fundamentals and storytelling through light.

Responsibilities

  • Light, render, and composite shots through to approval using Maya, Arnold, and Nuke.
  • Modify and enhance light setups to support storytelling and scene continuity.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure consistency across shots and sequences.
  • Work with Art Directors and Supervisors to match visual direction.
  • Tune lighting passes in compositing to improve image quality.
  • Meet assigned shot quotas and deadlines.
  • Communicate progress and issues with Production and supervisors.
  • Seek feedback and contribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented team.
  • Identify technical issues and relay them to the team.
  • Familiarize yourself with studio pipeline, tools, and workflows to optimize efficiency.
  • Be comfortable with occasional overtime to meet deadlines.

Job Overview

As a Junior Lighting / Compositing Artist, you will be an integral part of our Lighting, Rendering & Compositing (LRC) team, helping bring 3D animated scenes to life. You'll focus on lighting, rendering, and compositing shots with guidance from leads and supervisors. This role is ideal for someone looking to deepen your skills in lighting and compositing while contributing to a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Light, render, and composite shots through to approval using Maya, Arnold, and Nuke.
  • Modify and enhance existing light setups to support storytelling and scene continuity.

This is a Union position and the terms and conditions of employment are covered by a collective agreement.

In accordance with British Columbia's pay transparency legislation, the wage displayed reflects the minimum rate established under ICON's collective agreement. Additional compensation may be considered based on experience, qualifications, and project needs, where permitted by the collective agreement.
