Job summary

Dexterra Group is hiring Light Duty Cleaners to join our team at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This permanent, full-time role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in a government facility.

You will perform routine cleaning tasks, follow health and safety standards, and work with a small team. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
• Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the facility.
• Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum and clean floors and surfaces.
• Clean and sanitize washrooms, common areas, offices and spaces.
• Empty waste and recycling bins and dispose of materials properly.
• Restock washrooms and cleaning supplies as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas.
• Follow cleaning procedures, schedules and safety standards.
• Safely use cleaning products, equipment and supplies.
• Report maintenance concerns or hazards to the supervisor.
• Work with team to maintain consistent cleanliness.
• Respect site security and access requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Location: Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO), 1 Challenger Dr, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 4A2
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
Hours: 32.5 paid hours per week
Schedule: Five (5) shifts per week
Shift: Day Shift – 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Positions Available: Multiple
Union: Non-Union
Security Requirement: Reliability Status Clearance Required

About the Site

As a Light Duty Cleaner, you will be responsible for performing routine cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the facility while following established health, safety, security, and sanitation standards.

Dexterra Group provides cleaning services at the BIO site, where our team works together to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment.

Please note: Due to the nature of the site and the Government of Canada requirements, successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security clearance.

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the assigned facility
• Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors and other surfaces
• Clean and sanitize washrooms, common areas, offices, and designated spaces
• Empty waste and recycling bins and dispose of materials appropriately
• Restock washroom and cleaning supplies as required
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas
• Follow established cleaning procedures, schedules, and safety standards
• Safely use cleaning products, equipment, and supplies
• Report maintenance concerns, hazards, or damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor
• Work collaboratively with team members to maintain consistent cleanliness standards
• Respect all site security and access requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned
