Job summary

The Town of Ladysmith on Vancouver Island is seeking a Lifeguard Instructor I to ensure pool safety and lead aquatic programs. You’ll supervise activities, maintain a safe area, and demonstrate leadership with patrons and staff.

Required certifications include Lifesaving Swim Instructor, National Lifeguard Pool, Lifesaving Instructor, and CPR Level C, plus a valid First Aid and a Vulnerable Sector check. This temporary part-time role offers $32.98/hr and wellness benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
• At least 1 year recent lifeguard/instructor experience.
• Current Lifesaving Swim Instructor and CPR Level C certifications.
• National Lifeguard Pool Option and Lifesaving Instructor certifications.
• BCRPA Aqua Fit Instructor or equivalent.
• Valid Standard 1st Aid.
• Vulnerable sector check and police information check.
• Strong communication and client service skills in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of patrons in and around the pool area.
• Maintain pool area in a safe and clean condition.
• Instruct and lifeguard within aquatic programs.
• Provide general supervision of pool activities.
