Job summary

The City of Markham Recreation Services Department is seeking lifeguards to ensure the safety of pool users across City facilities. You will promote safe swimming, monitor the pool area, and support a positive customer experience while adhering to rules and procedures.

These are temporary positions with flexible scheduling. Applicants must be at least 15 years old and hold current Lifesaving Society certifications, including National Lifeguard and Standard First Aid with CPR C/AED.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard.
• Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid or Intermediate First Aid with CPR C and AED.
• Lifesaving Society Airway Management.
• Include Lifesaving ID number on résumé.
• Certifications must be current from start to end of term.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and encourage pool users to swim safely.
• Patrol and observe the pool area, ensuring rules are followed.
• Check rescue equipment and discuss scanning with the team.
• Maintain correct patron-to-lifeguard ratios at all times.
• Apply basic life support and first aid as required.
• Complete pool deck setup and cleanup.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning.
• Know emergency procedures.
• Interviews will be held on Nov 20 and Dec 5 only.
