Job summary

Kinsight Society in Port Moody, BC, is seeking a temporary Community Support Worker to assist individuals with developmental disabilities within the LIFE Services program. The role focuses on promoting inclusion, independence and meaningful community connections, with responsibilities that adapt to each person's changing goals and needs.

Requirements include a relevant degree or diploma and 1–3 years' experience; strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills; and a valid Class 5

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Community Support Worker, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• One to three years of experience in supporting people with developmental disabilities
• Experience in user-led design and facilitation is an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills
• Well-organized with strong time management; able to work independently or as part of a team
• Knowledge of user-led service design principles
• Ability to develop presentations and convene community discussions
• Class 5 Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record; personal vehicle required
• Able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
• BCGEU union membership is required

Temporary Position - October 1, 2026 - March 31, 2027

Kinsight is an accredited non‑profit organization. We work alongside families of children, youth and adults with developmental delays or disabilities to support growth, development and personal well‑being. We work with hundreds of community members and professionals to welcome and include all people, and foster vibrant and healthy communities. We serve the communities of New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. It is available to anyone served by CLBC who has an employment goal, and who also want support to increase confidence and independence, connect to the community, learn new things, build friendships and a network of natural support around them.
L.I.F.E. Services are designed to respond to the natural rhythm of a person’s life, and adjusts supports provided over time in response to people's changing goals and needs. HOURS:

37.5 hours/week - primarily Monday to Friday - on a flex schedule. This position requires flexible working hours, including some evenings/weekends as required by the needs, ambitions and schedules of the people supported. May be required to work evenings and weekends.

LOCATIONS:

• Tri-Cities, New Westminster and surrounding communities

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A degree or diploma in Social Sciences, Community Support Worker, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• One to three years of experience in supporting people with developmental disabilities
• Experience in user‑led Design and facilitation an asset
• Position requires well‑developed interpersonal and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly self‑motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Understanding and ability to apply the principles of user‑led service design
• Ability to develop presentations and convene/facilitate community discussions
• Class 5 Driver’s License; satisfactory driving record;
• Required to use personal vehicle for work
• Ability to obtain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check Clearance
• BCGEU union membership required
