Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a LiDAR Data Analyst Co-op Student to support the processing, analysis, and QA of LiDAR, imagery, and geospatial datasets, collaborating with engineers, scientists and software developers.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program (2nd or 3rd year) in Geomatics Engineering, GIS, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Remote Sensing, Geography or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; interest in geospatial technologies and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing and quality assessment of LiDAR, imagery, and geospatial datasets.
  • Support sensor calibration, validation, and performance evaluation activities.
  • Analyze point cloud and image data using internal software tools and workflows.
  • Perform quality control checks and investigate data anomalies.
  • Generate maps, reports, statistics, and visualizations for engineering and project teams.
  • Support testing and evaluation of new software features and processing workflows.
  • Assist with documentation of procedures, workflows, and test results.
  • Organize and manage project files, datasets, and calibration records.
  • Help troubleshoot data processing and sensor performance issues.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and software developers on technical projects.
  • Participate in R&D activities related to LiDAR, imaging, and geospatial technologies.
  • Contribute to process improvement and workflow automation initiatives.

Job Description

This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week), onsite co-op position. The initial term is 8 months, with the potential to extend to 16 months.

Role

We are looking for a highly motivated LiDAR Data Analyst Co-op Student to join our team and support the processing, analysis, and quality assessment of LiDAR, imagery, and geospatial datasets. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with advanced mapping, remote sensing, and sensor technologies while working alongside engineers, scientists, and software developers on innovative projects. The successful candidate will contribute to data processing, quality assurance, sensor calibration and validation activities, software testing, technical documentation, and workflow improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for a student with strong analytical skills, an interest in geospatial technologies and data analysis, and a desire to apply technical and scientific concepts in a collaborative engineering environment.

Attributes & Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (2nd year or 3rd year) in: Geomatics Engineering Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Computer Science Software Engineering Electrical Engineering Remote Sensing Physics Geography Environmental Science Related discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Interest in geospatial technologies, sensors, mapping, or data analysis.
  • Experience working with technical or scientific datasets.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with LiDAR, photogrammetry, GIS, or remote sensing concepts.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, CloudCompare, or similar software.
  • Basic programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar languages.
  • Exposure to coordinate systems, mapping, or surveying concepts.
  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, or software testing.
  • Familiarity with point cloud data and LAS/LAZ formats is an asset.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $46,100.00-$61,400.000 The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
