Program Name: Visiting Nursing

Number of Hours Bi-Weekly: 45

Work Schedule: Days, with an evening and weekend rotation

Union/Bargaining Unit: NSNU - Portability of Seniority as per NSNU Agreement

Responsibilities:

Our LPNs provide medical care to children, youth, adults, and seniors in their homes and other community settings across Nova Scotia. Responsibilities include:

  • Diabetes management
  • Dialysis
  • Medication management
  • Palliative care
  • Phlebotomy
  • Wound care, including negative pressure wound therapy and complex wounds
  • ...and much more
Qualifications:
  • Must be Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the province of practice
  • Experience in community health is an asset
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required
  • A current and original satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required; Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Work Conditions and Physical Demands:

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, involving physical activities such as lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements emphasizing good body mechanics. The role involves walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
