Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the team at St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof. The LPN provides compassionate nursing care, collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, and helps develop and evaluate patient care plans in line with Northern Health policies.

The role requires registration with BCCNM, a recognized LPN program, and current Basic Life Support certification. Shifts include days and nights, with a rotating schedule to cover 07:00–19:00 and 19:00–07:00.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing LPN registrant.
  • Current basic cardiac life support certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to assigned patients/residents according to policies and standards.
  • Develop care plans, conduct assessments, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • Document information and advocate for patients/residents.
  • Participate in care conferences and orientation of staff and students.
  • Respond to incidents and perform clerical duties as needed.

Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at St. John Hospital.


In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Program Lead or designate and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner, while recognizing situations such as increased patient acuity or care that falls outside the scope of an LPN as appropriate for accessing the RN/RPN for collaborative support and/or clinical intervention. The LPN assists patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Northern Health (NH) and established protocols. Participates in developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing, and evaluating interventions, documenting information, and acting as an advocate for patients/residents. Participates in a variety of meetings including care conferences and assists with orientation of new staff and students as required. Responds and reports incidents according to established procedures and performs clerical duties as needed.


Shift Rotation/Hours of work

Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)
