Job summary

Northern Health - BC is seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join the team at Fort Nelson General Hospital. The LPN will provide nursing care to an assigned group of patients, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and advocate for patients in line with established policies and BC standards.

The role includes developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing and evaluating interventions, and contributing to staff orientation.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification is required.
• Ability to provide compassionate patient care and work within an interdisciplinary team.
• Familiarity with Standards of Practice for LPNs in British Columbia.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to assigned patients/residents according to policies and standards.
• Develop and participate in care plans, conduct assessments, implement and evaluate interventions.
• Document information and advocate for patients/residents throughout care.
• Participate in care conferences and assist with orientation of new staff and students.
• Respond to incidents per established procedures and perform related clerical duties as needed.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Program Lead or designate and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner, while recognizing situations such as increased patient acuity or care that falls outside the scope of an LPN as appropriate for accessing the RN/RPN for collaborative support and/or clinical intervention. The LPN assists patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Northern Health (NH) and established protocols. Participates in developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing, and evaluating interventions, documenting information, and acting as an advocate for patients/residents. Participates in a variety of meetings including care conferences and assists with orientation of new staff and students as required. Responds and reports incidents according to established procedures and performs clerical duties as needed.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Evenings, 07:00 to 15:00, 15:00 to 23:00 (rotating)
