Job summary

The University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George, BC is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. You will provide direct patient care, participate in planning, implementing and evaluating care, and collaborate with the care team to promote health and wellbeing.

Rotation includes Days and Nights (07:00–19:00, 19:00–07:00) with a team-based approach, patient advocacy, and education for patients and families.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current registration.
  • Experience in emergency or acute care is beneficial.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions.
  • Coordinate health services for Emergency Department patients.
  • Discharge and care planning; patient advocacy and education.
  • Document care and collaborate with the health care team.

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the University Hospital of Northern BC.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the LPN works closely with the care team in direct care activities such as assessing. Planning, implementing, evaluating interventions, and coordinating health services for the Emergency Department patients. Participates in discharge and/or care planning, functions as a patient advocate, and teaches patients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family. Establishes, maintains, and enhances therapeutic relationships based on respect. Under a team-based model, provides care to patients across the lifespan, and their families, based on stable and/or predictable states of health by initiating and following established plans of care. Recognizes and responds to unexpected patient outcomes by communicating and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team. Documents care provided and response to incidents in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Emergency Department expectations. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers as needed.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)
