Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Casual (Night/Evening)

As an LPN, your responsibilities include:

  • Developing care plans with the Director of Care or designate for residents’ physical, psychological, and social needs.
  • Guiding and assisting care aides to ensure high standards of resident care.
  • Administering, monitoring, and recording medications; educating residents as needed.
  • Creating and managing nursing care plans; evaluating medical needs.
  • Assessing effectiveness of treatments and communicating significant changes to physicians and management.
  • Providing personal care, nursing procedures, and mentoring healthcare aides.
  • Meeting care requirements and communicating concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Maintaining competence through ongoing knowledge, skills, and evidence-based practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with provincial health standards, legislation, and safety statutes.
  • Promoting safety and injury prevention through safe work practices.

Qualifications include:

  • Completion of a Nursing diploma.
  • Registration with the provincial nursing regulatory body in good standing.
  • Preferred experience in residential care settings.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize and problem-solve.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Compassion and proficiency in resident assistance.

Conditions of employment include:

  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
