What We’re Looking For:

We are looking to hire a full time Licensed Practical Nurse to work in our Bridge Housing facility in West Edmonton. This is a great opportunity for a nurse who wishes to work as part of a concerted multidisciplinary effort to help the most vulnerable Edmontonian. The successful candidate will have direct contact with our clients, and they will need to demonstrate the following education, experience, skills, and abilities.

What you'll do:

  • Provide front line service and be a community partner.
  • Deliver formal and informal services in the areas of general health assessment and care, overdose prevention, wound care. Potentially includes immunizations, STI testing and treatment.
  • Work with EMS.
  • Assist with Crisis Intervention.
  • Work with community partners as a consultant, educator, and collaborator
  • Build relationships and provide services to help people without stable housing to engage and support their individual capacity to take charge of their own lives and health.
  • Participate in engagement activities on the site such as bingo nights, art therapy, education sessions etc.
  • Emergency response including overdose resuscitation, first aid, and triaging people to access further health interventions.
  • Provide support to team members.

What you have:

  • Completion of an accredited Healthcare Provider (LPN, PCP) and active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta.
  • Certificate in Crisis Intervention an asset.
  • High level of accountability and communication is key, ability to effectively share casework between shifts at a 24/7 operation.
  • Able to work non-judgmentally and creatively with a wide range of people who have multiple barriers to accessing care, within a Harm Reduction framework.
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing environment. Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of substance use, culture, overdose prevention, sex trade, STIs, blood borne pathogens.
  • Ability to work in a highly stressful, ever-changing environment.
  • Must have excellent boundaries, mental resiliency is key.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in an Indigenous cultural context.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, harm reduction.
  • Familiarity with local community resources (Substance use, Social Services, Justice)
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary, dynamic team setting.
  • Ability to work in partnership with other organizations.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Plan and execute documentation and evaluation.

LOCATION OF WORK: Based at a new facility for houseless individuals in west Edmonton.

HOURS OF WORK: Monday- Friday 06:30 Am-02:30 Pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 per hour
