Interior Health is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Surgical Department on 5N at Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, BC. This is a relief full-time position with rotating day and night shifts in a fast-paced environment.

The unit at 5 North has stroke care focus and provides patient-centered rehabilitation support. You will work with a multidisciplinary team, following BCCNM standards and organizational policies.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses.
• Current full practicing licensure with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Current CPR certification required.

Responsabilités

• Performs assessments and plans, implements and provides nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Administers medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular) per policies.
• Operates within BC standards and unit protocols in a fast-paced surgical setting.

About the Job

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Performs assessments and plans, implements and provides personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team; the scope or extent of the skills that the LPN performs varies according to the predictability of the outcome for a given client population.

Administers oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications in accordance with pharmaceutical and organizational policies and procedures.

Operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards and unit specific protocols.

This is a Relief Full Time (1.00 FTE) opportunity until April 30, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:30 to 19:30, 19:30 to 07:30 hours.

About this Location

5 North is a 35-bed unit. Four beds are assigned to stroke care needs and focus on stroke rehab-specific nursing care and supporting the patient through the continuum of care throughout the system. Our unit provides patient-centered care, utilizing progressive and innovative rehabilitation best practice, and we provide in-house education to our nurses to ensure everyone on the unit is able to provide the highest quality of care.

Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap health service area and is one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals.

Located in Kamloops, RIH offers high-level, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24 emergency and trauma services, ambulatory and outpatient clinics, and diagnostic services. Specialty services include ambulatory psychiatry, elderly mental health, clinical nutrition, and lung health.
