Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Alberta is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to residents in our retirement communities. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver planned nursing care, develop and modify care plans, complete assessments and document accurately.

You will mentor unregulated care providers and support residents and families with empathy. Ideal candidates are licensed in Alberta, with experience with seniors, good communication,

Qualifications

• Current LPN registration in Alberta.
• Experience with seniors and unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education in gerontology, rehabilitation, or long-term care is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care per provincial standards.
• Be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary care team with ongoing communication with residents, families and staff.
• Implement and evaluate the care plans; update documentation and assessments as required.
• Teach, delegate and mentor unregulated care providers; provide coaching as needed.

How YOU make a difference

LPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care.

LPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with our residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.

LPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.

LPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.

LPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

What YOU bring

• Current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the applicable province
• Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
