Job summary

Covenant Care and Buffalo Grace Manor in Lethbridge, Alberta are hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse for a permanent full-time day position. You will lead nursing care, coordinate with the care team, and support residents and families with compassionate, high-quality service.

Requirements include graduation from an approved Practical Nurse program, CLPNA registration, and CPR/First Aid. French is an asset. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

  • Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required.
  • Current CPR / First Aid Certification / Equivalency required.
  • Ability to speak French an asset.

  • Exhibits open and sincere approach to relating to people by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day delivery of care to residents in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) is individualized and ongoing.
  • Provide support to residents and their families during end-of-life journey with dignity and privacy.

Position Summary:

The position of Licensed Practical Nurse will commit to incorporate our mission, vision, and our values, which are Compassion, Collaboration, Respect, Social Justice, Integrity and Stewardship, and uphold our ethical traditions as foundational aspects in all actions and decision-making.

Reporting to the LPN Supervisor, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team. The LPN works cohesively with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process (Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) is individualized and ongoing, such that changing needs of residents are addressed and met.

In accordance with Covenant Care’s mission, vision, and values, this position is responsible for ensuring that residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures. Provides support to residents, their family and visitors during the resident’s end of life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality.

This position will:

  • Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision, and Values

Qualifications:

  • Recognizes and responds effectively to verbal and non-verbal cues with exceptional active listening skills
  • Ability and knowledge to work in a continuing care setting and the ability to deal with difficult behaviors
  • Ability to cope with frequent changes such as daily routine, workload, shifts and resident needs and possess exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills
  • This position requires you to be vaccinated against all required communicable diseases under Covenant Care’s OHS policy
