Job summary

Primary Care Alberta, within East Edmonton Health Centre, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join a collaborative family care team. You will provide safe, patient-and-family-centered nursing care, support post-visit education, immunizations, wound care, and routine lab collection in a busy clinic.

This casual/relief role requires good communication, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to manage multiple appointments with diverse patients, under supervision of the Family Care Manager.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider.
  • 1 year of experience in a primary care clinic.
  • 1 year experience with EMR software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients from various cultures, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Capable of managing 3 or more scheduled patients and assist with other duties as they arise.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to prioritize in a busy clinical environment.
  • Candidate must be detail orientated, demonstrate initiative, strong organizational and time management.
  • Ability to work as a team player within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with woman’s health and assist with procedures.
  • A certification and experience with PAP procedures is preferred.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to contribute to quality health care initiatives.
  • Demonstrated motivation toward continual professional learning and growth mind set.

We have an exciting opportunity within the Family Care Clinic at East Edmonton Health Centre (EEHC) for a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who shares our dedication to accessible, high-quality care and thrives in a team-based environment.Your decision making, problem solving, critical thinking , teaching ability and communication skills will be key to your success in this role as you will work closely with family physicians, registered nurses, and allied health professionals to provide culturally appropriate and individualized care including post-visit education, health information support, and health care navigation to patients of all ages and abilities across the life spanThis is a physically demanding job where you will be lifting to 50lb or assisting patients onto exam tables, extended periods of standing and the ability for frequent bending, kneeling, and twisting. In addition, you will also provide clinical assessments, health routine immunizations, therapeutic injections, wound care, cast removal, immediate first aid response, collection of routine lab samples, process point-of-care- lab test and medications administration. Working in a busy, noisy work environment and the ability to manage high clinic volumes are also required. It is critical for the incumbent to possess friendly, welcoming communication skills both in person, written and on the telephone.Reporting to the Family Care Manager consider joining this collaborative team as a key partner at the EEHC, and make a meaningful impact in a welcoming, community-focused setting where innovation and connection come together to support patient well-being.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and PCA policies and procedures. Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Connect Care documentation.Advance Nursing Certification such as foot care, women’s health, or a willingness to expand scope of practice as per CLPNA and PCA guidelines.Experience in a community health clinic or primary care setting.
