Job summary

OC Transpo in Ottawa is seeking licensed mechanics (Truck & Coach 310T) to diagnose, repair and maintain the city’s transit bus fleet. The role is full-time at Transit Service, 1500 St. Laurent Boulevard, Ottawa, with a 40-hour week and night shifts.

Compensation starts at CA$48.77 per hour with overtime, tool allowances, uniforms, vacation, and pensionable premiums for licensed trades. Applicants must have the 310T certification or Red Seal and relevant driving qualifications.

Qualifications

• Ontario Certificate of Qualification (310T) or Red Seal endorsement required.
• Completion of a 6,720-hour Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship.
• At least one year of experience after certification.
• Valid, unrestricted Ontario Class G driver’s licence, or provincial equivalent, with no more than six demerit points.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain transit buses and vehicle systems.
• Perform safety inspections and use diagnostic and test equipment.
• Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, drawings, and work orders.
• Plan work and estimate required materials and time.
• Use the Fleet Management Information System and maintain a safe work area.

OC Transpo is hiring full-time permanent licensed mechanics to diagnose, repair, and maintain Ottawa’s transit bus fleet. The position is based at Transit Service, 1500 St. Laurent Boulevard, Ottawa, and is scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Compensation and benefits

• $48.77 per hour (2026 rates of pay)

Requirements

• Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician (310T) or Red Seal endorsement
• Completion of a 6,720-hour Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship
• At least one year of experience after certification
• Valid, unrestricted Ontario Class G driver’s licence, or provincial equivalent, with no more than six demerit points
• Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and statutory holidays
• Ability to obtain an unrestricted Ontario Class CZ driver’s licence, or provincial equivalent, within the employer’s required timeframe
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain transit buses and vehicle systems
