Job summary

Sandvik AB in Canada seeks a licensed Workshop Technician to troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical and electrical Sandvik equipment and components. A Red Seal and a mechanical diploma are preferred, with 3–5 years of relevant experience and schematics literacy.

The role includes mentoring workshop apprentices, meeting delivery targets, and staying current with industry developments. Starting pay is CAD 40/hour, with final offer based on experience and market.

Qualifications

• Technical (Mechanical) diploma is required.
• Red Seal certification or in the process of achieving this.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ related experience with industry specific equipment.
• Previous experience with Sandvik equipment is considered an asset.
• Automotive, truck & coach or heavy-duty equipment experience is considered a strong asset.
• Ability to read/comprehend related schematics.

Responsibilities

• Follow scope of work within time constraints to meet established delivery targets.
• Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
• Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts components or systems according to scope of work.
• Identify additional repairs, compile parts and labor estimates and communicate to the supervisor.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts listings.
• Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with industry, customer, product developments and technical best practices.
• Build sound relationships with the workshop team and internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Support and act as a mentor to workshop apprentices.
