Job summary

Canada Post is seeking a temporary on-call Letter Carrier in Thunder Bay, ON. You will be the face of Canada Post, delivering mail and parcels to customers on your route, whether by foot or vehicle. You will start in the depot, sort items, and then head out to ensure reliable deliveries in all weather.

The role rewards outdoor work, opportunities for permanent positions, and ongoing training. English and/or French literacy are required, with a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• A valid Class5 or ClassG drivers license with a safe driving record for at least 3 years.
• The physical ability to lift mail items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly.
• Ability to work in all types of weather and be on-call.
• Ability to read, write and speak English and/or French.

Responsibilities

• Start the day in the depot, sorting and preparing deliveries.
• Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle.
• Deliver mail and packages by foot or vehicle to customers on your route.
• Return to the depot to unload and prepare for the next day.

Job Responsibilities

What will you do?

• You’ll start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
• You’ll load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle

• You’ll then spend most of your day outside, delivering mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on your route
• You’ll return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery

Qualifications

• The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7kg (50lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9kg (35lb) regularly throughout the day
• The ability to work in all types of weather
• The availability to be on-call
• The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French
