Job summary

Canada Post is seeking a temporary, on-call Delivery Agent (Letter Carrier) in Hamilton, Ontario. You will be the face of Canada Post for customers and businesses, delivering mail and parcels by foot or vehicle in all weather.

The role begins in the depot, sorting and preparing deliveries, followed by loading the vehicle, and then outbound delivery across your route. This position offers on-call hours, potential for permanent employment, and extensive training.

Qualifications

• A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required).
• The physical ability to lift mail items up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly.
• The ability to work in all types of weather.
• The availability to be on-call.
• The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French.

Responsibilities

• Start the day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries.
• Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle.
• Deliver mail and packages on your route by foot or vehicle.
• Return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery.
