Job summary

Canada Post is seeking a temporary on-call Delivery Agent (Letter Carrier) in Fredericton, NB. You will start in the depot, sort and prepare deliveries and then travel on foot or by vehicle to deliver mail and parcels to customers.

The role requires a valid driver’s licence, ability to lift up to 50 lb, willingness to work in all weather, and English and/or French language skills. On-call availability and potential for permanent employment are noted.

Qualifications

  • A valid Class5 or ClassG driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries in the depot.
  • Load and drive a Canada Post vehicle.
  • Deliver mail and packages on route, by foot or by vehicle, throughout the day.
  • Return to the depot to unload and prepare for next-day deliveries.

Job Responsibilities

What will you do?

  • You’ll start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
  • You’ll load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle

  • You’ll then spend most of your day outside, delivering mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on your route
  • You’ll return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery
Qualifications

What must you have?

  • A valid Class5 or ClassG driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3years (driver's abstract required)
  • The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7kg (50lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9kg (35lb) regularly throughout the day
  • The ability to work in all types of weather
  • The availability to be on-call
  • The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French
