Job summary

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario is seeking a Designer to join the Precinct Properties Branch. This 100% on-site role collaborates with Designers, Consultants, and Facility Maintenance professionals to develop interior standards and produce scaled drawings in AutoCAD.

Requires a diploma or degree in interior design (or equivalent) and at least three years’ related experience, preferably in heritage buildings.

Qualifications

• Requires a diploma or university degree in interior design (or equivalent), and at least three years of related work experience.
• Ability to prepare and read architectural drawings, shop drawings, and diagrams.
• Knowledge of building and design principles is required.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills are essential.
• Proven project management skills for small to medium projects.
• Regular use of AutoCAD (latest version) is required.
• Experience with SketchUp, Plotter, and graphic design is an asset.
• Experience with base building standards and information management is an asset.
• Membership in ARIDO or equivalent is considered an asset.
• Proficiency with MS Office and related software is expected.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement a facility management program for the Legislative Building, Legislative Staff, and end users.
• Develop and justify new base building facility standards.
• Review designs to ensure LAO standards are met with external consultants.
• Collaborate with the Senior Designer in implementing interior building standards.
• Maintain and update the chamber seating plan, space management program, and interior finishes inventory.
• Work with end users and consultants on analysis, site measurements, space plans, finishes, drawings, and move plans.
• Maintain Legislative Assembly master drawings and provide updated drawings for key clients.
