The Department of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital, in conjunction with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking a qualified full-time academic gastroenterologist for a hospitalist position. The candidate must be eligible for a clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The role includes responsibilities as a Clinician-Teacher (CT), Clinician-Educator (CE), or Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI). The expected start date is October 1, 2025, or shortly thereafter.
The candidate should hold an MD degree, be certified or eligible for certification in Gastroenterology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and possess licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Previous experience as a GI hospitalist working with inpatients with complex GI disorders is required. The position involves managing the inpatient GI ward at St. Michael’s Hospital, engaging in research and quality improvement, and participating in educational programs at all levels, including supervising fellows and hospitalist trainees. Leadership in education is encouraged.

The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Gastroenterology, which is renowned for therapeutic endoscopy, research, education, and quality improvement.
