ROLE
Surerus Murphy Joint Venture is looking for a Learning & Development Coordinator who supports the Learning & Development Lead in developing, sourcing, coordinating, and tracking learning in all areas of the business, in line with the Company’s Learning & Development (L&D) Strategy. This role will be supporting Learning & Development initiatives in Canada and USA.

As the organization continues to evolve, this role will offer opportunities for growth and expansion, allowing the successful candidate to take on new responsibilities and contribute to shaping future learning initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about fostering growth and engagement in a dynamic workplace.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning & Development Program Management

  • Support internal and external training programs, including vendor sourcing and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation.
  • Provide support in managing the Performance & Development Review Program, including tracking completions and assisting with communication and education efforts.
  • Process Educational Assistance applications as per the Company’s Educational Assistance Standard and apply for training grants when applicable.
  • Support the administration and coordination of the Company’s Student Programs.
  • Assist with the management of Leadership Development Programs, including scheduling, participant tracking, and supporting program enhancements.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement cycle for existing L&D programs by gathering, and tracking feedback from participants, trainers, and stakeholders.
  • Organize and schedule instructor-led training sessions, including venue booking, materials preparation, and facilitator coordination.
  • Enroll learners into online courses, ensuring proper registration, access, and troubleshooting any enrollment issues.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for learner questions and issue resolution.
  • Conduct L&D section of employee orientations to ensure seamless onboarding.
Compliance Management, Reporting & Analytics
  • Maintain the Company’s Compliance Management software, including compliance tracking, course and certificate management, reporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Facilitate training for system administrators and provide support for inquiries.
  • Track key L&D metrics such as training compliance, participation rates, and learner feedback.
Project Support & Content Development
  • Support project kick offs including creating training requirement matrices and setting up project specific assignments in the Company’s Compliance Management software.
  • Assist in online course development with Subject Matter Experts using MS PowerPoint and other tools.
  • Continuously improve training materials and methodologies based on feedback and best practices.

Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A certificate or diploma in a related field is considered an asset.
Experience

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Hands-on experience with data management and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design processes is considered an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is office based and works in our permanent location in Calgary, AB. This position requires occasional travel to offices and project sites in both Canada and the US.
