Learning Designer (Coordinator) - LPN-BSPN Access Program

$71,846-$115,129 Placement on the faculty salary scale is based on education, professional certification and experience and will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The Opportunity

Douglas College seeks a dynamic, innovative, and experienced nursing educator to serve as the Learning Designer for our LPN Access to BSPN program. This position is responsible for integrating evidence-based use of educational technologies and instructional design principles into the online curriculum to support student learning, engagement, and success. The successful candidate will collaborate with BSPN nursing faculty, HS Educational Technology Coordinator, Health Sciences Experiential Coordinator and IT professionals to design, implement, and evaluate high-quality online learning experiences.

  • Lead the integration of educational technology into the online LPN - BSPN Access nursing curriculum
  • Design and implement interactive, competency-based learning modules aligned with nursing education standards.
  • Ensure content meets accreditation requirements and supports BCCNM preparation.
  • Apply best practices in online learning and instructional design to create engaging, student-centered content.
  • Collaborate with faculty to convert traditional course content into online formats using Learning Management Systems ( LMS ) tools and media technologies.
  • Develop assessments, simulations, and virtual labs that promote clinical reasoning and nursing competencies in the online learning environment.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies (e.g., simulation software, virtual reality, AI-based learning tools) in collaboration with the HS Educational Technology Coordinator.
  • Train and support faculty in using learning technologies effectively.
  • Work with IT and instructional design teams to troubleshoot and enhance user experiences.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:
  • Monitor the effectiveness of online course delivery and student outcomes.
  • Collect and analyze data to support continuous improvement of educational content and delivery.
  • Stay current with trends in nursing education, eLearning, and instructional technology.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the DoPN, LPN - BSPN Access Program Coordinator, HS Educational Technology Coordinator, & Health Sciences Experiential Coordinator and other HS coordinators as needed.
  • Mentor faculty in online teaching strategies and innovative pedagogical approaches.
Qualifications:
  • Current RPN /RN registration in good standing with BCCNM
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in nursing education, with at least 1 year of experience in online curriculum development preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with learning management systems (e.g. Blackboard)
  • Proficiency in educational technology tools (e.g., simulation platforms, video creation/editing)
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles and online learning theory (e.g., UDL , Bloom’s Taxonomy)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

The Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking a Coordinator for the department of Psychiatric Nursing. This position takes effect September 1, 2025 for a one year term. This role has five (5)sectionsof time release available for the 2025-2026 academic year.
