About the Faculty of Continuing Education

Mount Royal University's Faculty of Continuing Education has provided high-quality education to Calgary and beyond for over 75 years. Serving more than 30,000 students annually, it offers programs approved by the Ministry of Advanced Education, including occupational programs, academic upgrading, and vocational programming. The faculty offers over 60 programs and 350+ courses across various topics, available in multiple formats such as on-campus, online, and community-based.

About the Role

The Learner Engagement Advisor (LEA) is the primary contact for current and prospective learners within the Faculty of Continuing Education. The LEA supports program growth by engaging organizations, delivering information sessions, and fostering relationships to increase enrollment. The role requires understanding adult learner needs, advising on educational paths, and assisting learners with program and technical issues. The LEA must demonstrate professionalism, problem-solving skills, and initiative while interacting with learners, staff, instructors, and external organizations. The LEA collaborates across the faculty to ensure consistent processes and support for learners.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional customer service and learner advising to attract, retain, and satisfy learners.
  • Offer accurate program and course information via phone, email, virtual, and in-person interactions.
  • Advise on program options, including alternative courses and pathways.
  • Manage email accounts related to programs, responding promptly and professionally.
  • Address learner concerns and escalate issues as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of learner information systems and enrolment records.
  • Assess admission applications based on entrance requirements.
  • Identify organizations for engagement and promotional activities.
  • Assist in coordinating educational and promotional events.
  • Collaborate with recruitment and retention strategies with the Operations team.
  • Create planning documents to support marketing and recruitment efforts.
  • Promote continuing education and Conservatory programs actively.
  • Keep confidential records of advising interactions for future reference.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and planning.
  • Share best practices and insights with colleagues.
  • Provide excellent service to all stakeholders, including learners, instructors, and departments.
  • Disseminate orientation and registration information.
  • Maintain learner records according to university policies.
  • Monitor registrations, withdrawals, and waitlists.
  • Validate and monitor learner progress.
  • Handle learner data confidentially and in compliance with policies.
  • Review applications for graduation as needed.
  • Prepare learner progress reports for program adjustments.
  • Ensure accuracy of advising documentation for prospective responses.
Qualifications
  • 3-4 year Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in a post-secondary environment is advantageous.
  • Experience in advising roles is beneficial.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.

Salary: $55,982 - $70,841 per year
