Job summary

Volvo Group | Mack Trucks Canada is seeking students for an internship/co-op to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting and support lean and continuous improvement projects on-site. You will work on cross-functional teams on important initiatives that enhance operational efficiency.

Applicants should be enrolled in a BA/BS in IT, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, have completed 30 semester hours, and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in BA/BS in IT, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Completed 30 semester hours prior to start.
• Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Support lean and continuous improvement projects on-site and work on multiple projects to improve operational efficiency.
• Assist with development and implementation of new SOPs and reporting systems.
• Develop tools using Microsoft Office in conjunction with in-house systems to support operational needs.
• Support data analysis of processes.
• Develop and implement new process flows and work area designs to maximize efficiency and ergonomics.
• Demonstrate analytical, creative and collaborative problem-solving.
• Adopt an entrepreneurial mindset with hands-on experimentation.
• Embrace resilience and learning opportunities; final schedule to be agreed with manager.
