Job summary

Highland Valley Copper is offering a Fall 2026 co-op focused on workforce development, data analytics and continuous improvement within a mining operation. You will help plan, coordinate and track training programs and develop data-driven dashboards to support decision-making.

The role requires studying Business, HR, Data Science or CS, strong analytical skills, and familiarity with Excel and Power BI. Field and office work at a mine site are expected, with mentorship and professional

Qualifications

• Pursuing a post-secondary degree in relevant fields (Business Admin, HR, Data Analytics, CS or Data Science).
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to visualize complex data.
• Exposure to data science concepts such as statistics, data modelling, or ML is a plus.
• Experience with Excel, Power BI, LMS and/or SharePoint is an asset.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

Located approximately 17 kilometers west of Logan Lake and about 50 kilometers southwest of Kamloops in British Columbia, the surrounding areas of HVC have an abundant offering of outdoor experiences.

Role Overview

8 Month Term – Fall 2026 (September 2026 - April 2027)

For this position we are seeking a student with a passion for workforce development, data-driven decision making and continuous improvement in an industrial environment. The ideal candidate is curious about how effective learning programs contribute to operational safety, productivity and workforce capability within a mining operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Plan, coordinate, and track training programs across Highland Valley Copper
• Develop and maintain data-driven training dashboards, predictive insights and summary reports to track key performance indicators and support decision-making
• Apply data science and analytical techniques to evaluate training effectiveness and workforce capability gaps
• Assist in the preparation and delivery of training sessions, incorporating digital tools and modern learning technologies
• Collaborate with Training Designers and Developers to update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and course materials using evidence-based and technology-enabled approaches
• Support initiatives that integrate automation, data systems or digital tools to improve training processes and reporting efficiency
• Provide general support to the Leadership and Development team including scheduling, communication and document management
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline training delivery and enhance operational performance

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Computer Science or Data Science
• Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze, interpret and visualize complex data sets
• Exposure to data science concepts such as statistical analysis, data modelling or machine learning is considered an asset
• Previous experience with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Learning Management Systems and/or SharePoint is considered an asset
• Understanding of how data analytics and technology can support workforce development, training effectiveness and operational outcomesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
• Comfortable working in both office and field environment at a mine site
• Motivated self-starter, able to work under minimal direction and be able to coordinate several tasks and/or projects simultaneously
• Able to maintain confidentiality and a high level of integrity
• A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the co-op is required

Pay Range:

CAD $4100 - $4825 per month

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
