Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in logistics or related field.
  • 7+ years in purchasing, customer service or inventory management, with 2+ in management.
  • Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills.
  • Proactive, results oriented with continuous improvement focus.
  • Fluent in English; French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead purchasing group of 10+ employees and manage delivery flow of parts.
  • Address non-conformity of parts and supplier payment roadblocks.
  • Provide proactive communication to Director and staff in the Purchasing group.
  • Develop KPIs for purchasing performance and stock accuracy.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including BOE implementations.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams to resolve delivery issues.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Perform managerial responsibilities and recommend related actions, for example, hiring, disciplinary actions, PMP, training and certifications, work assignments, scheduling vacation, monitoring attendance.
  • Management a group of 10 (+) employees in charge of purchasing, managing the delivery flow of parts, address non-conformity of parts and supplier payment roadblocks.
  • Manage proactive communication to Director, as well as the other staff in the Purchasing group.
  • Manage workflow and provide leadership with respect to customer’s overall satisfaction.
  • Identify reasons for process or workflow inefficiencies and develop strategies to overcome issues.
  • Ensure the development and delivery of training within the functional group.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs that pertain to the purchasing performance and the ability of the team to stock the right parts, in the right place, at the right time.
  • Manage the development of tools to increase efficiencies throughout the team.
  • Manage team to achieve the functional targets for the facility, support continuous improvement initiative and yearly or ad hoc objectives.
  • Promote, mentor and develop supervisory employees in the group.
  • Accountable for understanding, implementing corrective action plans to KPIs of increased complexity.
  • Monitor and ensure proper escalation of any material related delivery issues to the cross functional leaders (Logistics/Supply Chain) that will have an impact on the timely release of the aircraft and discuss the solution/actions.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams (Logistics, Supply Chain, Methods, Plant Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Quality) to resolve problems concerning delivery and component discrepancies.
  • Actively lead and implementation of BOE (Bombardier Operational Excellence) system within area of responsibility in line with Bombardier strategic vision.
How to thrive in this role?
  • You hold a Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or Business, with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in purchasing, customer service or inventory management role, two (2) of which are in management.
  • You must possess excellent leadership skills including strong ambition and desire to succeed, a strong professional ethic and proven planning, prioritizing and organizational skills.
  • You have a strong coaching skills and ability to motivate a team.
  • You must be proactive, results oriented and strive for continued improvement
  • You have strong interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with a variety of individuals, departments, customers, vendors, and management.
  • You have strong interest in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • You have computer skills necessary to operate word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software to build governance, reports and KPIs to support the business unit (including but not limited to, MS Office suite, MS Outlook, SAP (or ERP and EWM systems).
  • You have planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize, assign, and coordinate workload of assigned area and employees within a multiple project setting.
  • Strong data analytics skills with ability to lead and drive complex analysis and provide specific guidance to analysts.
  • Superior verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • You have the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and handle multiple time sensitive tasks in a demanding global environment.
  • You demonstrated ability to be a team player and take initiative, as well as the ability to be decisive.
  • You ideally have previous experience with purchasing process improvement and continuous improvement in administrative functions.
  • You are bilingual in English / French is an asset.
