Compensation: $19.00 to $38.00 per hour, depending on experience

Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital, a member of VCA Canada, is currently recruiting for a full‑time Treatment Team Lead to join our team. Vancouver Animal Wellness is where conventional and alternative approaches to veterinary medicine meet. Bringing interesting challenges to general veterinary practice.

Vancouver Animal Wellness is committed to supporting pet owners and the veterinary community by providing the highest level of preventative and wellness care. The successful candidate will support and direct the treatment team in a professional and kind manner while recognizing the responsibilities involved in responding to client and co‑worker questions.

The Treatment Team Lead will also work closely with the hospital's leadership team to promote a positive hospital image and continuously work towards the betterment of the hospital. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work efficiently on your own and with the team. Additional stretch assignments and responsibilities outside of patient care include:

  • Training and orientation for new team members
  • Creating an equitable schedule for the team
  • Coordinating vacation coverage
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • A minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
  • Have completed the required Registered Veterinary Technician Program.
  • Skills in alternative modalities preferred.
  • Have critical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot (anesthesia machines, monitoring equipment, etc.).
  • Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Be confident in your ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters and perform venipuncture for blood collections.
  • Be confident in your ability to perform drug calculations and nutritional calculations.
  • Perform basic physical exams by accurately counting heart/pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Understand normal vital parameters and alert doctors when abnormal.
