Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Rock Mechanics Engineer - Underground and Mass Mining to lead rock mechanics work on deep, high-stress projects in Canada and internationally. You will guide geotechnical design, manage numerical modelling, and mentor multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, buildable mine designs.

Requirements include a mining/geotechnical engineering degree and extensive underground rock mechanics experience, with travel to client sites across regions as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering or related field.
Significant underground rock mechanics/geotechnical project experience.
Experience with deep/high-stress mining environments and ground-support design.
Ability to lead complex technical assignments and communicate risk clearly.

Responsibilities

Lead underground rock mechanics studies for deep/mass-mining projects.
Develop geotechnical design criteria for mine development and major excavations.
Direct numerical modelling programs to evaluate stability and ground response.
Mentor engineers and geoscientists, build client relationships.
