Job description

Company Overview

Novamera Inc. is a venture capital-backed Canadian company disrupting the mining industry through its suite of Surgical Mining™ technologies. Our innovative solutions work with conventional drilling equipment to precisely identify, navigate, and extract minerals from small, narrow deposits that were previously uneconomic to mine. Having proven our technology in the field with global mining leaders, Novamera is now transitioning from development to commercial project delivery.

The Opportunity

Joining Novamera at this critical stage of commercialization, you will play a key role in ensuring that Surgical Mining™ systems are technically ready and perform reliably in the field. This role is hands-on and execution-focused; you will act as the technical system owner during the commissioning of our integrated hardware suite.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • System Ownership: Act as the technical lead for the on-site commissioning of Novamera’s proprietary hardware, including the Positioning Control System (PCS), Course Correction Device (CCD), and Down-hole Imaging Tool.
  • Subsystem Integration: Support integration across electrical, electronic, control, automation, and hydraulic subsystems to ensure the "Surgical" precision of the rig.
  • Third-party vendors and OEMs: Coordinate and review engineering deliverables from third-party vendors and OEMs.
  • Testing & Validation: Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), equipment performance testing, and integrated system testing at site.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve system-level anomalies or degradation trends during early operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Capture lessons learned to support the scaling of engineering and commissioning practices for global deployment.
  • Safety & Risk: Escalate technical risks when system integrity or safe operation is uncertain.
Position Requirements
  • Residency: Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience: 10+ years in industrial systems, mining, or heavy equipment environments.
  • Field Expertise: Demonstrated experience in commissioning, start-up, or field troubleshooting of complex equipment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Practical experience with Control Systems (PLCs, HMIs), Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic systems, and Hydraulic/Fluid power equipment.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel and work on-site during commissioning and operations (approx. 30–50%).
  • Assets: Experience with underwater, high-pressure, or high-vibration environments is highly considered.
What Novamera Offers
  • Dental and Extended Health care coverage.
  • Paid time off and RRSP matching program.
  • Company stock options.
  • A collaborative environment with a constant stream of new technical challenges.
  • Growth and mentorship opportunities as we scale to global deployment.
