Job summary

Valard Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Manager for our Substations group, based in Calgary or Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Manager, Substation Construction, you will oversee on-site activities for high voltage substation, transmission, and BESS projects, coordinating with Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and clients.

The role requires a Journeyman PSE or Electrician designation, 10+ years of leadership, and proficiency with MS Office and project scheduling tools (Primavera

Qualifications

• Journeyman PSE or Electrician designation
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and control all on-site work for HV substation, transmission, and BESS projects
• Act as main point of contact between Site Supervisors, subcontractors, and client
• Coordinate FAT/SAT commissioning activities with engineering and client
• Manage change orders and RFIs with cost and schedule impacts
• Oversee subcontractor performance and lead incident investigations to closure
• Support union labour relations and mentor field supervisory staff
• Champion site safety culture and participate in JHSC and safety audits
• Input to estimating, proposals, and customer relationship development
