Job summary

CBCL Limited seeks a Structural Bridge Engineer to lead bridge design and inspection efforts across Halifax, Fredericton or St. John’s. You will manage projects, mentor teams, and develop innovative solutions using advanced analysis tools.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, PE registration, and 5+ years in structural/3+ years in bridge engineering, with strong communication and client engagement skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with registration or eligibility for registration with provincial Engineering Associations.
• Minimum five years of structural engineering experience, at least three years in bridge engineering (intermediate) or ten years with five years in bridge engineering for senior.
• In-depth knowledge of bridge design and constructability; CHBDC (CAN/CSA S6).
• Bridge inspection experience with understanding of material conditions and defects.
• Experience designing concrete and steel bridges for short and medium spans; adherence to standards.
• Strong communication skills for drafting reports and proposals; collaboration with drafting teams.
• Organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines and budgets.
• Ability to engage with clients and contribute to business development through proposals.

Responsibilities

• Lead as Project Manager, Structural Lead and Designer for diverse bridge projects from concept to completion.
• Develop bespoke designs and efficient workflows using programming, AI and advanced analysis software.
• Mentor engineering teams and coordinate with in-house disciplines.
• Engage in business development through proposals and client interactions.
• Visit project sites to collect data, assess structures, and oversee progress.
• Prepare and review technical reports, tender documents and cost estimates.
• Oversee contract documents and perform quality checks on deliverables.
