Job summary

Legislative Assembly of Ontario is seeking a Lead Solution Architect to shape the future of information systems. You will lead architecture, establish standards, and guide a multi-disciplinary team to deliver secure, scalable solutions aligned with organizational goals.

You will collaborate with PMO, stakeholders, and vendors, communicating complex concepts clearly while driving continuous improvement and architectural excellence.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of related work experience and education.
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in systems development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior architecture role.
• Advanced knowledge of solution architecture, system design, and system integration.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with current development tools and technologies including Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, Azure, PHP, React, Python, and web content management systems.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI and modern cloud-based and containerized solutions.
• Solid experience with project management, and Agile/Scrum.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and technical direction of application solutions, ensuring they are secure, scalable, accessible, and aligned with organizational goals.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a team of software developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Establish and maintain architecture standards, development frameworks, and governance practices that promote consistency, quality, and long-term sustainability.
• Oversee the technical planning and execution of complex projects, including assessment, solution design, estimation, identifying risks, and resource planning.
• Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and innovative approaches to continuously improve how technology supports the work of the Assembly.
• Align with project managers in the Portfolio Management Office to evaluate, plan and execute projects.
• Build strong partnerships with internal clients, acting as a trusted advisor on application technology strategy, architecture, and solution delivery.
• Communicate complex technical concepts and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Engage with Technology Services and external vendors to implement, support, maintain, and evolve mission-critical systems.
• Facilitate architecture reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen delivery practices and technical excellence.
• Participate in iDivision architecture planning and review alongside other architects.
