Job summary

Intact Financial Corporation in Canada is seeking a Manager, Software Development for the HR IT team. You will lead cross-functional teams, align with business strategies, and drive end-to-end software initiatives while evolving agile practices and maintaining governance of IT systems.

The role requires leadership in IT development, SaaS delivery, and strong collaboration across French and English speakers, with eligibility to work in Canada and a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology/software engineering or equivalent.
• Experience leading IT development initiatives.
• Experience in continuous delivery management.
• Experience developing SaaS solutions.
• Experience in change management and transformation.
• Experience managing teams.
• Experience in project management skills, including planning, budget and timeline management, scope management, risk management, timely decision-making and building effective teams.
• Leadership.
• Bilingualism (French/English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
• No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Assess capabilities to recommend appropriate solutions and deliver the expected value.

• As we strive for continuous improvement, evolve our agile practices based on lessons learned throughout the end-to-end development lifecycle.
• Have a thorough grasp of all aspects of software development.
• Keep abreast of new technologies and challenge the status quo.
• Develop and keep the strategic demand plan up to date by identifying deliverables and dependencies, estimating associated timelines and costs, and helping assign resources to activities.
• Build, lead and coordinate, through direct and/or indirect supervision, the activities of multidisciplinary teams, including Project Managers (PMs), Scrum Masters and Project Control Officers (PCOs).
• Prepare reports covering all aspects of the project—including progress, issues, costs, and closure—while adhering to established performance indicators.
• Lead project risk management and effectively manage project delivery.
• Maintain dashboards on a regular and ongoing basis throughout the program/project lifecycle.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of industry trends and technology innovation, identifying opportunities and suggesting solutions as appropriate.
• Work with Software Engineering Managers and Project Managers to staff initiatives appropriately, balancing organizational needs with each person’s experience and career goals.
• Anticipate problems and difficult situations and take the necessary steps to resolve them.
• Be accountable for the production, security and governance of the sector’s IT systems.
