Job summary

Verve Senior Living is seeking an experienced Registered Practical Nurse to lead and support resident care at our Ontario residence. You will distribute medications, update care plans, and supervise care staff while ensuring a safe, compassionate environment for seniors.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the Health & Wellness Manager/Director of Care and requires strong English communication, reliability, and leadership under varying conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Grade 12 education.
• Has obtained a recognized nursing license (RPN) in good standing with the CNO.
• Certified in Emergency First Aid, CPR and AED certifications are required.
• Previous experience as an RPN is an asset.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, with residents, families and team members.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and to evaluate resident care needs.
• Dependable, responsible and able to work well in a team or independently.
• Resident-oriented with values aligned to the residence.
• Demonstrates leadership skills.
• Proficient computer skills (Word and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Participates in continuous quality improvement standards.
• Assess residents’ needs and organize care plans to promote independence.
• Conduct pre-move-in and ongoing health assessments and advise on suitability for residence.
• Maintain resident files with proper documentation and safe medication practices.
• Update plans of care every 6 months or as required.
• Supervise attendants and provide guidance to staff as needed.
• Distribute medications and provide treatments per standards.
• Respond to emergencies and contact professionals or families when required.
• Provide direct resident care following policies and procedures.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and participate in safety programs.
• Support staff development and act as a leader in the absence of a manager.
• Maintain accurate nursing observations and required reports.
• Assist with housekeeping and other duties to maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate effectively with staff, residents, families, physicians and departments.
