Overview:

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager the Lead, Quality Control is responsible for overseeing and leading the quality control operations, ensuring compliance with quality assurance procedures and processes. This position leads the QC team, ensuring product control, process change management, tooling, and measurement device control are maintained to the highest standards. The QC Lead will also play a key role in driving continuous improvement efforts and supporting non-conforming material control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the quality control inspection team to perform product control, production process change control, tooling control and monitoring and measuring device control accountabilities.
  • Facilitate the training of QC personnel on company requirements and quality assurance procedures.
  • Collaborate with the facility and IT teams to provide the necessary hardware and software infrastructure for quality control activities.
  • Manage team attendance, approve time off, and ensure consistent staffing levels within the QC team.
  • Oversee the control of non-conforming materials, ensuring compliance with quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor and track product and process metrics, ensuring continuous communication with relevant stakeholders.
  • Propose and support initiatives and projects aimed at improving quality assurance processes.
  • Direct / Assign / Request / Point to / local Quality Engineer and/or Supplier Quality Engineer to address high severity NCMs originated by internal and external suppliers or repetitive issues affecting product quality.
  • Assign high severity or repetitive NCRs/issues to local Quality or Supplier Quality Engineer.
  • Suggest and require improvements in the production processes to enhance the overall quality of products.
  • Participate in corrective action requests based on trend analysis of non-conforming materials and processes.
  • Assist in the internal audit process to ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout production.
  • Contribute to the training program, ensuring all personnel performing production activities meet required training standards.
  • Support the collection and organization of quality records, ensuring compliance with company requirements.
  • Utilize the skills and strengths of team members to drive performance and efficiency.
  • Build a positive team environment through honest, open communication and fair, consistent leadership. Create a foundation of trust, respect, and mutual understanding.
  • Provide real-time feedback (both positive and constructive) and offer coaching to enhance the team’s skill development and knowledge expansion.
  • Act as a key liaison between quality and other departments to ensure smooth communication and successful project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Transport Canada accredited College Diploma in Aeronautics is an asset
  • Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s license (AME) is an asset
  • A technical degree or diploma in Aerospace Engineering is an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in an inspection, production, or handling product role
  • Experience in the maintenance of De Havilland DHC1 through DHC6 aircraft types is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulation CAR 561, 571 and CAR Std. 561
  • Understanding of Certificates of Conformance (CofC) issues by part makers and Airworthiness Release Certificates (FAA 8130/TCAA Form One/Easa Form 1)
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of quality control processes, product inspections, and non-conforming material management.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including Production, Methods Engineering, Liaison Engineer, IT and Facility management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
