Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Power System Studies Engineer in Canada to support regional and global teams on utility-scale renewable projects. You will perform load flow, short-circuit analyses, interconnection studies and contribute through the full project lifecycle.

The role emphasizes collaboration with renewable developers, utilities and ISOs/RTOs, with a hybrid work model across North America and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 4 years of direct experience with system studies on utility-scale renewable projects.
  • Experience with power system studies using PSS/E, ETAP and PSCAD or equivalents.
  • Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CIGRE standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical abilities and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Perform power system studies (internal to the plant) including load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination, TOV, arc flash and harmonics.
  • Perform power system studies (external to the plant) related to interconnection to meet interconnection requirements and NERC standards.
  • Support system studies projects through the full lifecycle from bid/proposal to execution and client meetings.
  • Contribute to on-time delivery and budget adherence for projects.
  • Collaborate with North America and global team members across diverse client types.
  • Engage with ISO/RTO forums and technical committees as required.
