Job summary

EBC Inc. is seeking a Lead Planner for major civil and infrastructure projects in Ontario. The candidate will manage planning and scheduling, coordinate with site teams, management, and clients to ensure on-time project delivery.

Required 12+ years in planning, strong Primavera P6, and MS Project skills, plus familiarity with LPS, 4D planning, and EVMS. Based at GTA project sites with compensation reflecting experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 12+ years as a Construction Planner on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive Primavera P6 expertise; MS Project an asset.
  • Experience with WBS coding structures and schedule management.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and linear scheduling concepts.
  • Bilingual: English proficient and functional French; scheduling certifications are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and maintain complex project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Monitor baseline schedules and progress, analyze critical path, SPI, and CPI.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and cash flow curves; lead EVM integration.

Job Description
  • Primarily assigned to a major project, the individual will be responsible for managing the planning and scheduling
  • system (tools and resources) for a major infrastructure project. This resource must be capable of managing
  • relationships with the site team, management, and the client regarding project planning and scheduling.
  • The Lead Planner supports project teams in the development, updating, and monitoring of project schedules using
  • specialized scheduling software (Primavera P6 and MS Project), in accordance with contract requirements and
  • industry standards.
  • Ensure effective communication among all stakeholders involved in project delivery through close collaboration with
  • the project team.
  • Facilitate and standardize the use of project schedules by developing and promoting a project management culture
  • that incorporates schedule management across all projects.
  • Integrate all required information to enable detailed monitoring of every stage of project execution.
  • On a weekly basis, or as required, generate progress reports and performance metrics (SPI, CPI) in accordance with
  • management requirements.
  • Prepare cash flow curves and lead the implementation of Earned Value Management (EVM) within Primavera P6.
  • Monitor baseline schedules (reference schedules) against actual project progress and activities.
  • Prepare the Planning section of the project's monthly progress report.
  • Ensure timely communication of planning information, including schedule updates, critical path status, schedule
  • slippages, data analysis, and impacts on project delivery.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in scheduling software while maintaining close collaboration with operations
  • throughout all project phases (bidding, execution, and claims management related to daily site activities), enabling
  • optimization and value enhancement within business processes.
  • Identify and monitor the project’s critical path.
  • Develop project schedules and distribute them to the appropriate teams and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate planning activities with other members of the project team.
  • Ensure compliance with project management best practices.
  • Attend meetings that may impact or relate to project planning and scheduling.
  • Prepare presentations for senior management and collaborate with the project’s Executive Committee (EXCO).
  • Attend site meetings as required by the project team.
  • Support project teams in impact analysis and claims preparation.
  • Be responsible for planning activities from the bid phase through design, procurement, and project delivery.
  • Participate directly in the development of complex schedules for major projects.
  • Promote and simplify the use of scheduling practices across projects through the development and training of a
  • project management culture that emphasizes schedule management on all projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of experience as a Construction Planner, with strong experience on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of Primavera P6 (essential) and MS Project (asset), including the use of Work Breakdown
  • Structures (WBS) and other coding structures.
  • Experience in schedule management, delay analysis, and claims support.
  • Experience implementing the Last Planner System (LPS) (an asset).
  • Familiarity with linear scheduling (TILOS), schedule quality audits (DCMA 14-Point Assessment), and 4D planning
  • tools (Synchro 4D/Navisworks) (an asset).
  • Bilingualism: English proficient and functional French.
  • Scheduling certification considered an asset (PMI-SP, AACE-PSP).
  • Risk management training considered an asset.
  • Presence required at the project site office (GTA based).

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is $95,000-$145,000. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance-based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
