Job summary

City of Burnaby seeks a Foreperson 1 - Grounds Maintenance to lead park crews in maintenance, irrigation, and related tasks. The role involves planning, supervising, and ensuring safe, efficient operations across public parks and sports fields.

The incumbent participates in budget estimates, monitors expenditures, and may be called for standby or snow/ice control work. A Grade 12 diploma with related experience is required, plus a valid BC driver’s license, with an expectation to work temporary

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion, preferably with related training or courses.
• Considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Knowledge of methods, practices, materials and equipment used in public parks maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, assigns, reviews and may participate in work of park crews.
• Motivates, trains and disciplines crew members; plans and allocates tasks.
• Assists in preliminary budget estimates and monitors expenditures.
