Job summary

Slingshot Aerospace in Windsor, Ontario, seeks a senior mechanical engineer to lead ground-based electro-optical space surveillance hardware development. You will design enclosures, mounts, optical benches, and precision assemblies for extreme environments, from concept through fabrication and field deployment.

Collaborate with optical, electrical, software, and field teams; perform analyses, create fabrication-ready drawings with GD&T, and guide suppliers and shops to ensure reliability at

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 7+ years in mechanical hardware for demanding tech.
• Experience designing equipment for outdoor, harsh environments and Arctic-style operation.
• Strong CAD skills, GD&T proficiency, and ability to produce fabrication-ready drawings.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of ground-based sensing hardware for extreme environments.
• Develop enclosures, mounts, frames, and optomechanical assemblies for precision optics.
• Analyze deflection, thermal, and tolerance effects on alignment and image quality.
• Coordinate with optical, electrical, software, and field teams to integrate systems.
• Prepare drawings, BOMs, tolerances, GD&T, and vendor interface documentation.
