Job summary

Kinectrics Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Project Engineer for the Nuclear Parts group located in Toronto, ON.

You will manage technical support across multiple projects, lead CGD/EQ/SQ activities, and develop test procedures to ensure safety and reliability of nuclear components. Requires a 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree, P.Eng or ability to obtain, and 4+ years of relevant experience in testing and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer licensure or ability to obtain P.Eng designation.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in mechanical equipment and processes with testing focus.
  • Experience designing and developing sophisticated equipment and instrumentation for testing is an asset.
  • Experience coordinating with suppliers for part design, assembly, and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of CANDU nuclear technology is an asset.
  • Experience writing technical specifications and test procedures.
  • Ability to prepare quotes and build cost estimates.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Service Line Director for Nuclear Parts, manage technical and analytical support for multiple projects.
  • Conduct programs of advanced research, testing, investigation, qualification and CGD activities.
  • Lead and execute projects involving CGD, EQ, SQ and custom equipment design/build.
  • Prepare test procedures for functional testing and factory acceptance testing.
  • Manage tests, investigations and troubleshooting for fabrication of nuclear parts.
  • Work with engineering teams to prepare evaluations, procedures, test plans, data analysis and reports.
  • Apply project management to manage scope, time, cost, and quality.
  • Liaise with staff, contractors, and vendors as appropriate.
  • Ensure timely and accurate project information and status updates to staff and customers.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and capture lessons learned.
