Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in vehicle and heavy-duty equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 with Q Endorsement required.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment is essential.

About the Role

Join our dynamic team as a Heavy-Duty Fleet Mechanic (Equipment Mechanic). Based in Slave Lake, this vital role focuses on mechanical repair and maintenance of a broad array of company vehicles and hydraulic equipment. You'll be an indispensable asset to our field Operations team, providing technical expertise and hands-on skills.

What You’ll Do:

  • Execute maintenance and repairs on a diverse range of company vehicles, including trucks (light and heavy), hydraulic systems, tracked vehicles, and trailers.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools proficiently and troubleshoot electronic control systems.
  • Oversee and maintain our garage and mobile repair units.
  • Participate in upfitting fleet units.
  • Provide guidance and training to other mechanics, apprentices, and garage helpers, as needed.
  • Contribute to the implementation and improvement of work processes.
  • Collaborate with vendors and manage parts orders.
  • Complete required administrative tasks, including data entry in Maximo, as well as work orders, invoices, and timesheets.

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to work outside of regular hours, including evenings and weekend, during outages or high-demand situations.
  • Occasionally participate in on call rotation and respond to service calls as needed.
  • May require occasional overnight travel to remote locations to support field operations.

What You Bring:

  • Alberta Certified Heavy Equipment Technician (HET)
  • Automotive Service Technician (AST) in addition to Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) would be an asset
  • Valid Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) license or ability to obtain.
  • Valid Class 5 with Q Endorsement
  • A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in vehicle and heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair is preferred
  • Experience with basic computer skills.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and troubleshooting of electronic control systems.
